Statement on Programming and Institutional Neutrality
Our Commitment
Cadogan Hall is committed to welcoming audiences from all backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives. Diverse programming, combined with our commitment to institutional neutrality, allows us to serve our entire community.
Cadogan Hall is a platform for artistic expression and diverse cultural programming. We are committed to providing audiences with opportunities to experience performances across all genres – from classical and contemporary music, to theatre, comedy and spoken word.
As an independent performing arts venue, we operate as a politically and ideologically neutral space. We do not align with, endorse, or promote any political party, movement, ideology, or the personal political opinions of the artists and speakers who perform at our Hall.
Our Programming Principles
Our programming decisions are made on the basis of the content. We assess each event according to consistent, content-neutral criteria that apply regardless of an artist’s personal viewpoints or media coverage, unrelated to their performance at Cadogan Hall.
We welcome diverse voices and perspectives, believing that cultural programming enriches our community by fostering dialogue, understanding, and shared human experience. However, we are explicit that our venue will not be used as a platform for political advocacy or as a setting for political campaigning.
Views Expressed Disclaimer
The personal views, opinions, and political positions expressed by performers – whether in interviews, social media, or public statements outside the context of their performance at Cadogan Hall – are their own and do not reflect the position, values, or beliefs of Cadogan Hall.
When audiences attend an event at Cadogan Hall, they are invited to experience the specific performance or content as advertised. The artistic merit of that performance is independent of any personal opinions held by the performer.
Our Standards
All performers at Cadogan Hall are expected to:
- deliver the content as advertised to our audiences
- respect our venue’s status as a non-political space
- comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- maintain professional standards of conduct
We reserve the right to decline programming that promotes unlawful activity, incites violence or hatred, or violates our policies regarding the use of our venue.
