Cadogan Hall announces autumn choral programming featuring performances from The Tallis Scholars, The Cardinall’s Musick and The Sixteen
Cadogan Hall is pleased to announce the highly anticipated return of its choral series, with three concerts this autumn season, from The Tallis Scholars, The Cardinall’s Musick and The Sixteen. The series will begin in September and continues throughout the 2023/24 season, forming part of Cadogan Hall’s celebrations of 20 years providing high-quality music as a venue.
Opening the season with a dramatic twist, The Tallis Scholars present Rivals in Munich, a programme creatively exploring the works of two Renaissance rivals: Orlandus Lassus and Ludwig Daser (21 September). Led by founder and conductor Peter Phillips, The Tallis Scholars will take the audience on an intriguing and thought-provoking journey to renaissance Munich.
This season will also see The Cardinall’s Musick captivate the audience with works from Byrd, Parsons, Ferrabosco, Tallis and de Monte, in a programme entitled Confessing the Faith (31 October). Conducted by Andrew Carwood, the ensemble will offer an emotional and evocative performance suitable for both newcomers and seasoned admirers of choral music alike.
The Sixteen, led by founder and conductor Harry Christophers, will return for two performances this December for their anticipated seasonal programme – The Sixteen at Christmas (14 & 15 December). Taking its inspiration from the story at the heart of the season: the nativity – traditional and modern arrangements of festive favourites mix with the medieval sounds of Hildegard of Bingen and the familiar Renaissance voices of Sheppard, Lobo and Byrd.
